INTERNATIONAL DAY
FOR THE ERADICATION OF POVERTY
Officially recognised by the United
Nations, it is now celebrated
throughout the world. This is the day
for promoting awareness to eradicate
poverty and destitution in all countries,
particularly in developing countries
like India, Thailand and African
countries among others. The theme
for this year is “Working together
out of poverty”. It highlights the
need for a truly global anti-poverty
alliance, one in which both
developed and developing
countries participate actively. |
