Also known as the festival of lights, this celebration is significant for Hindus worldwide. On this day, they light oil lamps – a symbol of thanks to the gods for happiness, knowledge, peace and wealth. It is also a celebration marking the victory of good over evil within the individual.

UNIVERSAL CHILDREN’S DAY
Although the day is recognised as the universal children’s day, Asian countries celebrate it on different days as well. This day promotes the ideals and welfare of children around the world.

Wax Castle Procession and Long Boat Races
Phra That Choeng Chum Temple celebrates the end of Buddhist lent, Ok Phansa, with a ceremonious parade of meticulously carved miniature castles, temples and shrines made from beeswax – a symbol of the ideal spiritual residence of the peoples’ ancestors. This tradition has been practiced for many generations and it is a time for charity and other festivities throughout the week.
