The Way of the foot and fist
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that
has been around for many years. In Korean,
the word “tae” means “to strike or break with
the foot”; “kwon” means “to strike or break
with the fist”; and “do” means “method”, “art”
or “way”. That’s why “taekwondo” loosely
translates to “the way of the foot and fist”.
It is one of the world’s most popular martial
arts, and it combines combat techniques with
exercise, sport, self-defence and meditation.
The South Korean military even uses
taekwondo as part of its training!
